Analyst Update: Senior Level Promotions, Quarterly Results, and Successful Test Results
Reviewed by: Rohit Tuli, CFA®
The U.S. markets extended their gains for a third session on Friday with the S&P 500 adding up its second best week in almost two years. The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished at 17,804.80, up 0.15%, the NASDAQ Composite edged 0.36% higher at 4,765.38, and the S&P 500 advanced 0.46% to close the session at 2,070.65. The rally in the U.S. stocks was fueled by the Federal Reserve's assurance on Wednesday to take a patient approach towards raising interest rates, which calmed the investors over the policy outlook. On the other hand, the European markets ended Friday's session on a mixed note as Italian banking and healthcare stocks weighed down the wider benchmarks. The Asian markets extended the previous day's gain on Friday and ended on a positive note boosted by the momentum on Wall Street following the reassurance from Federal Reserve that interest rates would be hiked no sooner than mid-2015.
Furmanite Corporation. (Furmanite) promoted Joseph E. Milliron, the Company's current President and Chief Operating Officer, as the next CEO of the Company, effective January 1, 2015. Milliron will succeed Charles R. Cox who is scheduled to retire at the end of this year.
FutureFuel Corp. (FutureFuel) reported lower third quarter 2014 revenues, dragged by weakness in Biofuels segment. Bottom line for the quarter also declined 25.1% YoY. During the quarter, the Company recognized final shortfall revenue of $8.8 million related to the production of the graphite anode material.
Gafisa SA (Gafisa) reported Q3 2014 financial results impacted by weak economic environment. Top line for the quarter declined, dragged by weakness in Gafisa and Tenda segment. The Company swung to losses in Q3 2014, as compared to profits reported in the same quarter previous year.
GenCorp Inc.'s (GenCorp) subsidiary Aerojet Rocketdyne successfully completed a hot-fire test of its MPS-120 CubeSat High-Impulse Adaptable Modular Propulsion System (CHAMPS). General Cable Corporation (General Cable) reported losses for Q3 FY 2014 compared to profits reported in the corresponding period of the previous year.
