Quantum3D Honored with American Technology Award for "Aerospace and Defense" Leadership and Innovation
TechAmerica Foundation "Best Of" Awards Recognizes ExpeditionDI
SAN JOSE, Calif., June 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/-- Quantum3D, Inc., a leading provider of visual and training computing solutions for government and commercial applications, has been awarded the American Technology Award (ATA) for outstanding achievement in the "Aerospace and Defense" category for ExpeditionDI – the first self-contained, wearable and fully-immersive close combat infantry simulator training platform. Also known as the Termans, in honor of Frederick Emmons Terman the widely credited father of Silicon Valley, the ATAs recognize products and services that have significantly advanced technology. The award was presented last night at a gala dinner in Washington D.C
"It is an honor to be recognized with an American Technology Award," said Arthur Yan, president, Quantum3D. "ExpeditionDI represents the future of close combat training by providing a fully-immersive 3D platform for individual and squad-based training that allows soldiers to reinforce the cognitive and communicative skills needed to achieve mission success and ultimately save warfighter's lives."
Deployed and in use for over five years, ExpeditionDI is equipped with a high-resolution head mounted display (HMD) and fully integrated wearable computing pack, and responds simultaneously to multiple body and weapon movements. These advanced technologies enable an infantry squad to move through and interact in a virtual environment while fighting and communicating as they would in a real-world combat situation. ExpeditionDI can also record training sessions, allowing soldiers to playback sessions to analyze what they did wrong and what was beneficial, and can be wirelessly networked into large scale joint training operations.
"The quality of nominees for this year's Termans is a clear indication of the vibrancy of the American technology industry and we are thrilled to be able to recognize Quantum3D for its contribution to the industry and its outstanding achievement," said Jennifer Kerber, President of the TechAmerica Foundation.
