"Baird McNutt Irish Linen is made by craftsmen for whom the fabric is a passion, not just a product. That's something that we truly respect here at Lands' End," said Max Garbutt, men's divisional merchandise manager, Lands' End. "Linen's casual elegance makes it a perfect summer fabric. It keeps men cooler in the heat by absorbing and releasing moisture more quickly than cotton. Our Irish Linen collection offers men timeless, versatile style for all their summer occasions."
The Lands' End Irish Linen Collection features a two-button coat ($300) and pants ($140) in solids, as well as stunning glen plaid and herringbone patterns. The Irish Linen Shirts ($70) are available in a fresh palette of fresh pinks and cool blues with a buttondown or cutaway collar, perfect with a full Windsor necktie knot. Complete the look with the Linen Necktie for $50.

Spinning Straw Into Gold
For 100 years, Baird McNutt craftsmen have created Irish Linen steeped in tradition and excellence. Linen comes from long, golden fibers encased inside the woody stalks of flax plants. The fibers are so long – 12" to 20" – that every step from harvest to weaving is a challenge. Extracting them takes months, which is why fine linen is so prized.
The basic steps for creating linen have changed little since ancient times: the flax is harvested, dried and then "retted" – which requires six weeks in the fields to dry repeatedly after absorbing dew and rain. With the last drying, the stalks and seeds are separated from the flax fibers. The fibers are then combed, spun into fabric and washed in peaty Irish waters for a gentle hand. The result is a soft, silky fabric unlike anything else in the world.
