Quadrant Homes Employees Partner With Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation to Award $25,000 in Community Grants to Local Food Banks and 'Hero' Organizations
Leading Northwest homebuilder recognizes the important work of five organizations that are making a direct impact in Quadrant Homes' communities
BELLEVUE, Wash., Jan. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Employees of Quadrant Homes, a subsidiary of Weyerhaeuser Real Estate Company, recommended that the Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation award multiple grants totaling $25,000 to five different non-profit organizations serving Quadrant Homes' communities in Skagit, King, Pierce, Kitsap and Thurston counties.
In partnership with the Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation, the Quadrant Charitable Contributions Advisory Team issued a call for proposals earlier this year seeking grant applicants in two key areas: food banks serving Central Puget Sound and programs that promote the well-being of active duty armed forces members, firefighters, or law enforcement staff, and veterans, who serve to protect Quadrant Homes communities.
Following a rigorous review process, Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation awarded grants to the following organizations.
- The Emergency Food Network of Tacoma and Pierce County
- Skagit County Community Action Agency
- Maple Valley Food Bank
- American Red Cross – Mt. Baker Chapter
- Air Force Reserve Care and Share Society
Weyerhaeuser President and CEO Dan Fulton will join Quadrant Homes President Ken Krivanec for a volunteer event at the Maple Valley Food Bank on Thursday, January 6.
"At Quadrant Homes, giving back to our community is a core aspect of company culture," said Krivanec. "These grants provide an opportunity to recognize five very deserving organizations that are working hard to improve the quality of life in our communities."
Among Washington State's largest single-family homebuilders, Quadrant Homes believes in responsibility not only to customers, but to the community as a whole. Employees regularly support the community through grants, sponsorships and volunteer events.
