Quadrant Homes Awarded 2011 Eastside Sustainable Business Award
Washington's largest homebuilder is recognized as a leader in sustainability practices by Bellevue Chamber of Commerce
BELLEVUE, Wash., June 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Bellevue Chamber of Commerce has awarded Quadrant Homes with the 2011 Eastside Sustainable Business Award in recognition of the homebuilder's leadership in sustainability. The award, given out at a luncheon last week, recognizes a company that is making significant strides in sustainability practices while balancing strong business, community and environmental practices.
Quadrant was honored on the basis of its Living Sound program, launched five years ago, that establishes a holistic approach to sustainable development and homebuilding. Living Sound aims to improve the company's sustainability, both through its operational footprint and also through its citizenship practices.
"It is a true honor to be nominated along with the other admirable Eastside businesses," says Mark Gray, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Quadrant Homes. "We're proud of our employees and business partners for all of their efforts toward sustainability. We hold ourselves to the highest standard, looking for every opportunity throughout the building process to minimize impact on the environment, while encouraging our partners, vendors and homeowners to do the same."

- Adopting a Roadmap for Sustainability, setting new priorities, goals and an sustainability action plan reaching to 2025. The Roadmap is employee-led, focuses on key systems and includes goals to achieve measureable improvements in focus areas, including waste and transportation reduction and product selection.
- Providing $25,000 last year to food banks and heroes through community grants.
The company has been recognized for its sustainability efforts, receiving honors such as Built Green™ Large Builder Award; Built Green™ Foundation; and the Association of Washington Business Environmental Award.
