BOSTON, April 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- QPID Health, a leader in clinical reasoning software, is pleased to announce that Dr. Mike Zalis, QPID CMO and co-founder, and Dr. Creagh Milford, associate medical director, Population Health Management, Partners HealthCare will present a case study during the 2015 HIMSS Annual Conference and Exhibition in Chicago. During the conference, QPID will showcase how its solutions help hospitals and medical groups optimize their investments in the information held within electronic health records as part of the Health IT Value Suite.
Drs. Zalis and Milford will share results and lessons learned for Partners, which has implemented a program to ensure appropriate use of costly and high volume cardiac, orthopedic and GU/GI procedures. Using software from QPID Health, evidence-based guidelines are applied to each patient's unique history and status, generating a customized view of the patient's risks and benefits. Initiated to ensure better outcomes and control costs under its shared risk contracts with payers, the program has achieved substantial benefits, including eliminating payer medical necessity reviews and increased patient engagement. The session will take place on Monday, April 13 at 11:30am CT in Room W192.
In the Health IT Value Suite, HIMSS attendees will also be able to see first hand how QPID is transforming clinical data sourced from EHRs and other repositories into actionable information for quality initiatives, registry fulfillment and clinical decisions. While EHRs have improved access to patient data, generating value from the information they hold still requires considerable manual chart review. QPID changes that by automatically retrieving and assembling actionable information from patient records.
"Presenting at HIMSS is a tremendous honor and I am thrilled that Drs. Zalis and Milford have the opportunity to share how we are partnering to improve care and control costs," said Mike Doyle, CEO of QPID Health. "QPID's mission is to make clinical data actionable. Participants are going to see what I believe is the future of medicine: the combination of widely regarded best practice, objective information about the patient and experienced medical judgment. We believe only then can you provide 100% appropriate care to the patient. We're excited to participate throughout the HIMSS meeting and look forward to sharing some of the excellent work we've been doing with world-class providers such as Brigham & Women's Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital and Silver Hill Hospital."
HIMSS attendees can view QPID's quality and registry solutions in the Health IT Value Suite, booth 4891.
About QPID Health
QPID optimizes "return on information" from data stored in electronic health records, clinical data repositories, and health information exchanges. With QPID's clinical reasoning platform, hospitals and medical groups can prove compliance with quality measures, participate in registries, and identify cohorts for research or care management - using fewer resources and more accurately. By automatically mining all the information in a patient's record, QPID supports better utilization management and care decisions. Before QPID, expensive clinical resources conducting manual chart review were required to leverage insights from unstructured information such as notes, estimated to be 80% of a patient's record.
QPID was developed at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and usage spread virally throughout the Partners HealthCare system. There are over 7500 active QPID users at MGH, Brigham & Women's, Silver Hill, Spaulding, and Newton Wellesley, among other institutions. QPID Health launched in late 2012 to bring the power of QPID to health systems nationwide. Investors include Cardinal Partners, Matrix Partners, Massachusetts General Physicians Organization, New Leaf Venture Partners and Partners Innovation Fund.
