POMONA, Calif., Nov. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Just in time for year-end, QNAP®, Inc. has refreshed its budget-friendly mid-range Turbo NAS 2-drive and 4-drive lineup with beefier processors. The TS-251 and TS-451 models have been the bread & butter models for the Home & SOHO category for nearly a year and garnered several awards for delivering business-grade performance and with a ton of great home entertainment features at more consumer-friendly price points. The new TS-251+ and TS-451+ units feature quad-core Intel Celeron® 2.0GHz processors and up to 8GB DD3L RAM. The new models also ship with QNAP's QTS 4.2 NAS management software which includes the first-ever natural search engine on a NAS – Qsirch.
The new faster processors allow the TS-251+ and TS-451+ to transcode HD videos on the fly even faster and handle increased concurrent tasks and users with ease. With up to 32TB of storage (TS-451+ and 8TB HDDs), these Turbo NAS units are ideal digital storage locations for homes, workgroups, and small offices. These units feature QNAP's myQNAPcloud private cloud service that makes remote access to your files and content easy and secure.
Along with its refreshed hardware, the QNAP NAS OS, QTS 4.2 is also embedded within the TS-x51+ NAS series, QNAP pioneered the first-ever real-time full-text search capability on a NAS with its new Qsirch app, so finding files and other content is as simple as entering as much as you know about the file and Qsirch shows possible matches instantaneously. QTS 4.2 offers other enhancements for sharing, backing up, and enjoying files including music, videos, movies, and pictures right on its browser-based OS. Of those enhancements worth noting is the Qmedia app available for Roku® players and Roku TV models, allowing users to easily stream photos, music and videos from their QNAP NAS devices to home TV through QNAP's DLNA Server function. The TS-x51+ series' built-in with virtualization capabilities also allow users to build Container applications (LXC and Docker®) and also VMs on top of the NAS.
