QinetiQ North America to Provide Marines Engineering, Acquisition, and Programmatic Support Services
MCLEAN, Va., March 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- QinetiQ North America today announced it was awarded a new task order by the Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) to provide acquisition, technical, logistics, engineering and administrative support to the Global Combat Support System - Marine Corps/ Logistics Chain Management (GCSS-MC/LCM) Increment 1 program.
GCSS-MC is the primary technology enabler for the Marine Corps Logistics Modernization strategy. At its core is a modern, commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) enterprise resource planning (ERP) system that will allow warfighters to meet their missions while deployed with reach back from the battlefield. When fielded to a unit, operators will be able to execute supply and related maintenance actions.
QinetiQ North America will support the GCSS-MC/LCM Program Office to replace four 40‑year old legacy supply and maintenance information technology systems. The Program Office is currently fielding the enterprise solution to approximately 40,000 users across the Marine Corps. A deployable capability is also being developed by the Program Office allowing Marines to use the system in austere environments. Future increments will enhance capabilities in warehousing, distribution, logistics planning, decision support, depot maintenance and integration, and will also include emerging technologies to improve asset visibility.
The task order was awarded under QinetiQ North America's Commercial Enterprise Omnibus Support Service (CEOss) contract. The task order has an 11-month base period of performance with two one-year options, which has a total value of $20 million if the options are exercised.
"With this task order, MARCORSYSCOM has given us an opportunity to greatly increase coordination and efficiency across GCSS-MC support efforts," said John Radziszewski, executive vice president and general manager, QinetiQ North America. "This will save the government money and help achieve the program manager's objective of developing an integrated GCSS-MC baseline."
