Qfix® Encompass™ SRS Immobilization System is now validated and cleared for use with HyperArc™ High Definition Radiotherapy treatment delivery
AVONDALE, Pa., Sept. 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Qfix (www.Qfix.com), a world leader in radiotherapy patient positioning devices, announced that the Encompass SRS Immobilization System has been selected by Varian Medical Systems as the immobilization device for its HyperArc High Definition Radiotherapy solution. The prescribed frameless Qfix Encompass SRS Immobilization System restricts the movement of the patient and allows patient positioning with sub-millimeter accuracy to precisely treat multiple lesions with a single isocenter. "We are proud to be chosen by Varian and pleased that Encompass is cleared and now validated for use with HyperArc high definition radiotherapy treatment," stated Dan Coppens, CEO and Chief Technology Officer. "Varian's decision to require that HyperArc be used in conjunction with Encompass underscores the clinical impact that sub-millimeter immobilization has on intracranial radiotherapy treatment."
Varian's HyperArc High Definition Radiotherapy is a potential solution for frameless, MLC-based, non-coplanar intracranial stereotactic radiosurgery. It is designed to allow more efficient delivery of non-coplanar treatments with a goal to deliver safe and efficient radiosurgery with a high degree of dose compactness. HyperArc HDRT is 510(k) pending and not currently available for sale.
The Qfix Encompass SRS Immobilization System is 510(k) cleared, CE marked and available for sale in many countries. Contact Qfix for more information.
