QBE Appoints John Beckman as Chief Underwriting Officer, North America
NEW YORK, April 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- QBE North America, an operating division of global insurer QBE Insurance Group Limited, today announced the appointment of John Beckman as Chief Underwriting Officer. At QBE, Mr. Beckman will be responsible for leading the company's efforts to enhance existing underwriting practices and processes, including product development, technical leadership and risk appetites.
Mr. Beckman will also serve as a member of the QBE North America Executive Management Board and Chair of the North America Underwriting Committee. He will be based in New York, NY, and will report to Russell Johnston, Chief Executive Officer, QBE North America.
"Mr. Beckman is a talented insurance executive with broad leadership experience across a wide range of businesses and geographies," said Mr. Johnston. "His proven ability to lead strong underwriting, actuarial and transformation initiatives will be a valuable asset in QBE North America's integrated specialist insurer strategy."
With more than 25 years of industry experience, Mr. Beckman was the Chief Underwriting Officer of CNA's Commercial Insurance business from 2011 to 2015. He most recently served as Senior Vice President and Chief Transformation Officer at CNA Insurance, where he was responsible for developing and implementing new predictive pricing tools, and replacing legacy underwriting and policy administration systems. John has deep experience in risk and reinsurance areas as well.
John holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society.
