Qatar-Based UrbaCon Trading & Contracting Co. Aims to Complete Huge Mall of Qatar by Fall 2015
WASHINGTON, Feb. 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Qatar-based UrbaCon Trading & Contracting, headed by Mohamed Moataz Al-Khayat, CEO, is making great progress in the construction of the Mall of Qatar, which when completed later this year will be one of the largest shopping malls in the world.
Slated to open in the fall of 2015, the Mall of Qatar will serve an estimated 20 million customers a year, with 400 shops that will include high-end luxury goods, the world's powerhouse brands and an exciting array of food, beverage and entertainment. There will also be a luxury hotel, a family entertainment center, a 5-star restaurant and 82 other restaurants, cafes and other eating establishments.
Built at an estimated cost of up to $1 billion, the 4,176,000 square feet shopping center will be adjacent to a FIFA 2022 World Cup stadium, and will have a dedicated station on Doha's new metro line. The center will have more than 1,750,000 square feet of retail leasable space on three levels, along with underground and surface parking for 7,000 cars.
The Mall of Qatar is but one of hundreds of major construction projects underway in Qatar. The upcoming FIFA World Cup in Qatar in 2022 is playing a major role in this growth and development, as well as Qatar's commitment to become a regional tourism destination.
UrbaCon Trading & Contracting has been involved in several huge projects over the last few years and has become one of the most respected building contractors in Qatar.
