Qatar Airways Sponsors Primo Classico
Airline supports Chicago's Primo Center for Women and Children for third consecutive year
CHICAGO, Oct. 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- For the third consecutive year, Qatar Airways was proud to sponsor the Primo Classico d'Europa, a celebration of food, fashion and classic automobiles, benefitting Chicago's Primo Center for Women and Children. The airline, which has been connected to Chicago since April 2013 served as a major sponsor, and helped secure charitable donations through the event's live auction.
The annual event was hosted at Hawthorne Global Aviation Services and was a showcase for Chicago's finest European automobiles from Lake Forest Sportscars. While guests marvelled at the full model range line up from Ferrari, a rare and one of a kind vintage Aston Martin was also on display.
"The Primo Classico event has always inspired the city of Chicago to appreciate the art of travel," said Qatar Airways Vice President of the Americas, Gunter Saurwein. "These beautiful automobiles remind us all that getting from point A to point B can be so much more than a matter of transportation. At Qatar Airways, we've always admired this pursuit of luxury and strive to match such sophistication and elegance, with every flight.
Qatar Airways was recently named "Airline of the Year" at the 2015 Skytrax Airline Awards. The airline sets the standard for luxury in aviation, offering lie-flat seats, award-winning cabin crew service and in-flight dining options by world-famous chefs, including Nobu Matsuhisa and Vineet Bhatia. Additionally, Business Class passengers are treated to amenity kits by Giorgio Armani, exquisite sleepwear, attentive turndown service, and 17-inch private TV screens with up to 2,000 viewing options.
Qatar Airways was pleased to donate 5-Star travel experiences to Zanzibar and Bali, onboard their award-winning business class. Victorious bidders will enjoy extravagant accommodations at the Park Hyatt Zanzibar and the Four Seasons Bali. All auction proceeds benefit the Primo Center for Women and Children.
"We are so thankful to Qatar Airways for donating these incredible travel experiences," said Quintin E. Primo III, Chairman of the Primo Center, as well as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Capri Capital Partners. "The airline has been a steadfast partner in our fight against homelessness and we salute their dedication to strengthening this community."
For 30 years, The Primo Center has fought to reduce homelessness in the greater Chicago area by empowering women and children to become productive, responsible and independent members of their communities. The group provides transitional housing, counseling and support services including education, parental training and employment retention services.
"In order to serve our world travelers best in the sky, we must be involved with their home communities, on the ground," added Mr. Saurwein. "The Primo Center has served the city for three decades and continues to make a huge difference in the lives of so many Chicagoans. We are honored to be a part of such a worthy cause."
Qatar Airways was proud to sponsor Primo Center as part of its ongoing support of charitable initiatives at both the local and global level. The airline is a strategic partner of Educate a Child, a program that aims to significantly reduce the number of children worldwide who are denied their fundamental right to education; an extension of Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser of Qatar's mandate as a UNESCO Special Envoy on Basic and Higher Education. The airline is also a contributing sponsor to the Children's Brain Tumor Foundation, the Chinese Youth Development Foundation and numerous community groups around the world.
