Qatar Airways Sponsors Pilot Light Chefs "Feed Your Mind" Event
Third annual Gala Supports Children's Health & Dietary Education Qatar Airways serves as "Executive Chef" Sponsor
CHICAGO, Oct. 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Qatar Airways was proud to sponsor the third-annual "Feed Your Mind" 2015 Gala and Benefit, a culinary event designed to raise money for the Pilot Light Chefs program, which educates Chicago area students on proper health and nutrition. The event highlighted chefs from across Chicago's diverse culinary landscape and reinforced the need to instill strong dietary habits in the city's youth, and educate on how their food is produced and prepared.
Founded in 2010 by four local Chicago chefs (Jason Hammel, Paul Kahan, Matthias Merges, and Ryan Poli) Pilot Light helps students "learn about where food comes from, how it grows, and how their choices affect their bodies and the environment." The group integrates with local public schools, helping teachers to meet dietary requirements and giving students vital information and valuable classroom experience.
"It is such a pleasure to work with inspiring and innovative educators in the communities we serve," said Qatar Airways Vice President of the Americas, Gunter Saurwein. "Pilot Light has championed a vital component of education, one which is often overlooked, and we support their efforts that give Chicago children the tools they need to live healthier lives."
Qatar Airways has always understood the value of quality food and superior nutrition, especially during world travel. The airline's award-winning menu features dishes by celebrity chefs Nobu Matsuhisa and Vineet Bhatia. The airline also offers a unique "Fly Healthy, Fly Fit" inflight health & wellness guide, developed in tandem with Deepak Chopra, which helps passengers relieve inflight stress and discomfort through self-massage and basic meditation techniques.
"Young or old, in the air or on the ground, Qatar Airways believes that you are what you eat," continued Mr. Saurwein. "We will continue to offer our world travelers the best options for health and wellness on every flight in our network of over 150 destinations."
