Washington, DC Event Features Key Speeches And Presentations By Qatar Airways Expands Opportunities For Qatari Students In The US
WASHINGTON, Nov. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Qatar Airways was proud to act as Gold Sponsor for the Inaugural Qatar Career Fair, hosted by the Embassy of Qatar in the United States. Held at the Marriott Washington Wardman Park in Washington, DC, this three-day event gave hundreds of Qatari students, currently living the United States, the inspiration and opportunity to explore future employers in Qatar.

As part of the Qatari National Vision 2030, Qatar's most prominent companies and government entities, including Qatar Airways, were in attendance, conducting Interviews and presenting sponsorship opportunities designed to empower the next generation of leaders with the experiences needed to guide the future of Qatar.
Several prestigious figures brought an inspiring tone to the event, including Guest of Honour, Ambassador Mohamed Bin Abdulla Al-Rumaihi, Qatari Ambassador to the United States; Dr. Mohammed Abdul Wahed Al Hammadi, Minister of Education and Higher Education of Qatar; Qatar Airways SVP Contracts and Procurement and Chairman of Nationalisation Committee, Mr. Mohsen Alyafei.
During the gala dinner Alyafei, delivered a motivating speech, which encouraged students to take pride in their work and develop long-term goals that bring satisfaction and purpose to a career – especially for Qatar's dominant aviation industry.

One of the highlights of the festival was the Qatar Airways Nationalization Department booth.
One of the leading organizations for the development of Qatari talent, the Nationalization Department found a unique way to engage prospective students. Thirteen students, currently sponsored by Qatar Airways, were given iPads loaded with QHIRE, a custom-built application, which provides interactive promotional materials and guidelines on them 23 different majors and nine educational sponsorship programs offered by Qatar Airways.
These students were then able to act as ambassadors for the Department, proactively engaging students throughout the event.
Dr. Kholode Al-Obaidli, Vice President of Nationalisation gave a rousing presentation about the importance of being Qatar's future leaders. Her speech highlighted the different majors, as well as Scholarship Studies, Graduate Development Program, and Aviation Management Program. Students also learned about the unique benefits of being a sponsored student and future employee with Qatar Airways.
"The Qatari Students Career Fair has been a great event for our country and our airline. Through our unique, interactive approach, we have managed to conduct over 80 informative interviews and secure 54 conditional offers with bright young students whose enthusiasm, in turn, has inspired us in our own careers," said Dr. Al-Obaidli.
Ms. Nabeela Fakhri, Vice-President of Employee Services, even hosted a students-only raffle, offering a chance to win one of ten round trip tickets to Doha on Qatar Airways.

Through QHIRE, our raffle and creative twitter promotions, we have found interesting new ways to inform students about our impressive array of sponsorship programs" said Dr. Kholode Al-Obaidli.
Qatar Airways currently supports 102 students around the world, 13 of which are currently studying in the United States. In total, there are 733 Qatari students in the United States. Qatar's Higher Education Institute sponsors 328 of them, and 405 are self-financed.
Qatar Airways has seen rapid growth in just 16 years of operations, currently flying a modern fleet of 129 aircraft to more than130 key business and leisure destinations across Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and The Americas.
Over the next few months, the network will expand with the addition of further destinations. Having recently commenced service to Clark International Airport, Philippines on October 27th, Qatar Airways will launch service to Philadelphia, USA, on April 2nd, 2014 and to Miami, USA, on June 10th, 2014.
