Pyxis® ES Platform Now Live In More Than 600 Sites Nationwide
TechValidate Survey Supports Benefits of Pyxis ES Platform for Health System Pharmacy Operations
SAN DIEGO, Sept. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- CareFusion, a BD company (NYSE: BDX), announces that its enterprise-level Pyxis® ES platform, developed to help hospitals and health systems better manage medications across the care continuum, is now live in more than 600 sites.
"Over the past couple of years, there has been noticeable acceleration in the adoption of enterprise-level technology for automated medication dispensing, motivating health care facilities to upgrade from existing Pyxis technology or an alternative approach to dispensing," said Jason Strohm, worldwide vice president and general manager of Dispensing and Preparation Technologies for BD. "The Pyxis ES platform provides enterprise-level medication management that helps improve medication safety and inventory management, while making it easier for clinicians to optimize their time toward providing care."
A recent TechValidate survey of about 100 hospital pharmacists currently running on the Pyxis ES platform reveals the ways in which using the Pyxis ES platform provides value within and across the integrated health care delivery network versus traditional cart filling methods or other technology solutions.
Nearly two-thirds of respondents surveyed who had used other medication management systems cited medication safety concerns as a motivating factor to implement the Pyxis ES platform. Survey respondents identified four top benefits for their pharmacy operation post-implementation:
- Improved efficiency in addressing medication safety and medication security, as well as charge capture;
- Streamlined process of managing formulary items;
- Simplified management of user roles and permissions across an enterprise;
- Ease of web-accessible system use and management.
