MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- PwC US today announced that its Minneapolis office will donate $20,000 to The First Tee of Twin Cities, a non-profit organization that teaches youth core values like integrity, respect and perseverance through the game of golf. "The mission of The First Tee of Twin Cities mirrors that of PwC's Earn Your Future campaign, by striving to impact the lives of young people through educational programs," said Tom Montminy, managing partner of PwC's Greater Minneapolis market. "As a market, we are passionate about youth education and financial literacy in particular, which is why we're happy to support The First Tee of Twin Cities as they continue to work hard at preparing our youth for tomorrow."
The First Tee of Twin Cities offers a safe and positive learning environment, providing character education and life skills lessons during non-school hours. These lessons are held all around Minneapolis, including golf courses, schools, parks, youth-serving organizations, community centers and military installations. Thanks to donations to the organization, cost is not a barrier to participation as scholarships are available for young people who cannot afford to pay.
"PwC has a long history of serving community organizations in Minneapolis and a deep commitment to this region, and we're excited they are teaming up with us to help further the development of our youth," said Win Adams, Board President for The First Tee of Twin Cities. "With PwC's financial support, we'll be able to provide more children with the life skills they'll need to succeed."
In conjunction with the grant, The First Tee of Twin Cities will hold several programs throughout the fall and into spring including youth golf clinics and camps where staff from PwC Minneapolis will be teaching PwC's financial literacy curriculum.
