"Our partnership with Saint Martin de Porres High School continues to grow, and as it does, we get the pleasure of interacting with incredible students," said Robert D. Saada, Managing Partner of PwC's Cleveland office and Lake Erie Region. "More than 80 seniors are currently involved in the program, which focuses on skill development, financial literacy and connecting with local corporations more extensively. We're proud of the curriculum we've established and the impact it's making on these students."
Prior to the event, the students were able to research the companies in order to pose thoughtful questions to those top level executives in attendance regarding their business strategies and personal career stories. At the end of the day, the students presented career and budget plans based on the information gleaned about the Northeast Ohio companies. With more than 30 PwC partners and staff present at the event, the program aimed at helping the students build leadership skills through a hands-on experience.
"An opportunity to learn from various executives with real-life experience, through real-life scenarios is an educational advantage for our students," stated Rich Clark, President of Saint Martin de Porres High School. "With PwC's wide array of relationships and support, our young men and women are being offered hands-on training in career development and financial literacy, while gaining the essential skill of confidence which will give them a competitive edge amongst their peers in college and in the workforce."
The first of the bi-annual events associated with the "Students Today. Leaders Tomorrow." program was held on November 9th at the Quicken Loans Arena, where the students participated in communication and teamwork activities. More than 30 PwC Partners and staff were on-hand to help facilitate the session.
