AUSTIN, Sept. 25, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- PwC US today announced that Eric Hornsten, a 20-year veteran of the firm, has been appointed as managing partner for its Austin office. Hornsten will focus on serving PwC's diverse client base in the greater Austin market while supporting the growth and development of PwC's talent in the Austin office. He succeeds Jim French, who will be returning to PwC's San Jose office to work in the National Professional Services group.

Prior to assuming his new role, Hornsten served as an assurance partner in PwC's National Professional Services Group in San Jose, CA, where he worked with clients on complex accounting and reporting matters in areas such as revenue recognition and stock-based compensation.
Prior to his role in the National Professional Services group, Hornsten served clients in the San Jose and San Diego offices where he worked with a variety of public and private clients, providing advice on SEC reporting issues, IPOs, adoption of new accounting standards, internal control related matters and strategic acquisition and financing transactions.

Hornsten is a Certified Public Accountant in Texas and California and is a member of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, the California State Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He received a Bachelor's degree in Business with high honors as well as a Master's in Professional Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin.
