Purdue University Partners With Enterprise
Initiative Further Proof of Enterprise's Significant Local Economic Impact Across the State
INDIANAPOLIS, Dec. 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Purdue University is partnering with Enterprise Fleet Management to replace the school's aging fleet with 78 new Subaru vehicles. This initiative is freeing up approximately $1 million in upfront costs for the university, while also offering unlimited mileage to various campus departments.
"This lease agreement allows us to free up capital for other university needs and provides us with options while extending our partnership with a local manufacturer [Subaru of Indiana] as well as with Enterprise, a well-known and respected name in the transportation industry – both here in Indiana and throughout North America," said Rob Wynkoop, Purdue's Director of Service Enterprises.
In addition to handling all licensing and registration, Enterprise Fleet Management will conduct ongoing use and performance monitoring – ensuring that all vehicles are properly and regularly maintained, and reducing Purdue University's total cost of ownership for its leased vehicles.
Indiana's 'Preferred Mobility Partner'
Enterprise Fleet Management is an affiliate of Enterprise Holdings Inc., the largest car rental company in the world, which also operates the Enterprise Rent-A-Car brand.
Enterprise has a longstanding partnership with Purdue University and continues to serve numerous Indiana communities, with more than 80 locations throughout the state. For example, Enterprise Rent-A-Car opened a new location last year at the Purdue University Airport. In addition, Enterprise is an active campus recruiter and the No. 1 entry-level employer in the nation, currently employing more than 40 Purdue graduates.
Enterprise's plans to open a new location on top of the Broad Ripple Village parking garage in downtown Indianapolis recently were approved. The garage will use revenue from leasing the space to Enterprise for garage maintenance expenses and will continue to provide much-needed parking for the Indianapolis neighborhood. The new Enterprise Rent-A-Car location will employ several people from the community, adding to the more than 1,300 residents Enterprise employs throughout the state.
"By enhancing local partnerships and expanding our network of locations, we are continuing our mission to be a total transportation solution provider and preferred mobility partner in the state of Indiana," said Paul Evon, Vice President and General Manager of Enterprise's Indiana operations. "These latest initiatives are further proof of our significant local economic impact across the state."
Indeed, Enterprise's overall economic impact in Indiana is substantial. In fiscal year 2016 (ended July 31), Enterprise made the following key contributions, totaling nearly $35 million:
- $25 million in state and local tax revenues;
- $5.8 million spent with local collision repair centers, dealerships and vehicle maintenance facilities;
- $3.5 million in companywide purchases from diverse suppliers based in Indiana;
- $120,000 raised by employees and matching Enterprise Holdings Foundation donations for the United Way's Indiana chapters; and
- $154,000 in donations by the Enterprise Holdings Foundation to local charities, such as the American Heart Association, Indy Pride, Special Olympics of Indiana, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and Urban League of Indianapolis.
Philanthropy
Last month Enterprise's philanthropic arm announced a large donation aimed at fighting hunger around the globe. The program – called Fill Your Tank – celebrates the company's 60th anniversary by providing $60 million to address food insecurity. As part of the donation, each local Enterprise operation received an allotment, which the local team could distribute as it saw fit.
Enterprise of Indiana recently allocated a significant amount of its Fill Your Tank funds to Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana. Gleaners works with more than 250 agencies in 21 counties in Indiana to provide food to families in need – including many in the Broad Ripple community.
"Since our founding, we have worked to be an engaged corporate citizen that makes a real difference in the communities where we live and work," said Evon. "Here in Indiana, we're pleased to continue that legacy by enhancing services for our customers, while simultaneously stimulating economic growth by creating jobs, using local vendors, and partnering with agencies like Gleaners that provide much-needed services to people in the community."
