Purdue University Calumet Earns AACSB International Accreditation
TAMPA, Fla., May 11, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- AACSB International announced today that Purdue University Calumet has earned accreditation for its College of Business. Founded in 1916, AACSB International (AACSB) is the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master's, and doctorate degrees in business and accounting.
"AACSB congratulates Purdue University Calumet and dean Jane Mutchler on earning accreditation," said Robert D. Reid, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International. "AACSB Accreditation represents the highest achievement for an educational institution that awards business degrees. During this peer-review process, Purdue Calumet demonstrated alignment with 15 global accreditation standards, as well as how they achieve success within each of the three pillars on which AACSB Accreditation rests—engagement, innovation, and impact."
AACSB Accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business education, and has been earned by less than five percent of the world's business programs. Today, there are 736 institutions across 48 countries and territories that have earned AACSB Accreditation in business. Similarly, 182 institutions maintain an additional specialized AACSB Accreditation for their accounting programs.
Achieving accreditation is a process of rigorous internal review, engagement with an AACSB assigned mentor, and peer review. During the multi-year process the school focuses on developing and implementing a plan to align with AACSB's Accreditation standards. These standards are divided into four areas: strategic management and innovation; participants (students, faculty, and staff); learning and teaching; and academic and professional engagement.
"It takes a great deal of self-evaluation and determination to earn AACSB Accreditation, and I commend Purdue University Calumet for its dedication to management education, as well as its leadership in the community," said Reid. "Through accreditation, Purdue Calumet has not only met specific standards of excellence, but has also made a commitment to ongoing improvement to ensure that the institution will continue to deliver high quality education to its students."
AACSB International also announced that EM Strasbourg Business School (France), King Abdulaziz University (Saudi Arabia), Kutztown University (United States), Stevens Institute of Technology (United States), the University of New Haven (United States), the University of Windsor (Canada), Zhejiang University (China), and Zurich University of Applied Sciences (Switzerland) have earned accreditation in business.
