CHELTENHAM, England, March 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Bookmaker Betfred paid out over 600 grand when Big Buck's won a record-breaking third consecutive World Hurdle.
Inglis Drever also won three World Hurdles but never consecutively and it was a shocking result for the bookmaker.
Betfred boss Fred Done said,
"This Paddy's Day I'll be having half a Guinness while the punters have Big Buck's to buy the champagne. I was bashed up and I've paid out over 600 grand. As always, I pay out with a smile, especially when you've just witnessed class and it was an outstanding race."
Betfred were hit badly after going top price Big Buck's at 5/4 at 8am and holding the price for 3 hours. The Paul Nicholls superstar returned at 10/11 and was the most backed horse of the Festival so far.
Fred Done added,
"I've no regrets and I won't change. I'll continue giving the punters value although the wife is not very happy with me!"
