PULPDENT Provides 3 Reasons Why Bioactive Fillings are Better for Dentists and Patients
Leading dental innovation company notes strength, esthetics and oral health benefits
BOSTON, May 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Not all dental filling materials are created equal. ACTIVA BioACTIVE, a new bioactive dental filling material from PULPDENT Corporation, offers the best option when it comes to fillings. Here's why:
1. Bioactive dental materials solve many of problems associated with traditional fillings
Traditional white fillings (composites) are brittle and can chip and fracture. Adhesives used with these white fillings degrade and leak over time resulting in microleakage in the gap between the tooth and the filling material. The result is demineralization which can lead to additional tooth decay. ACTIVA BioACTIVE is esthetic, durable, and more resistant to fracture and chipping than white fillings (composites).
2. Bioactive restorative materials are friendly to tissue and saliva
In our mouths, as in nature, water is the source of life and is the essential requirement for bioactivity. Traditional white filling materials (composites) are hydrophobic, meaning they repel water, and have no potential for bioactivity. In contrast, bioactive materials like ACTIVA BioACTIVE are moisture-friendly and respond to pH changes in the mouth to reduce erosion from dietary sugars and fortify our saliva with the calcium, phosphate and fluoride that rebuild and protect our teeth.
3. Bioactive restorative materials promote remineralization
Teeth are made of minerals. Changes in pH cause our teeth to release and re-absorb minerals (a process known as demineralization and remineralization). Bioactive materials support the natural remineralization process by stimulating the formation of apatite (the basic building blocks of teeth) at the interface between the filling materials and the tooth. Dentists say that the bioactive material seems to melt into the tooth. The result is a seal between the tooth and the filling that protects the remaining tooth structure from further decay.
"I was skeptical at first ... but seeing how patients react and how good it looks ... there's no comparison." -- Dr. Alex Kurey on ACTIVA BioACTIVE
