Public Interest Registry Launches #CashForGood Contest
Winner Will Receive $10,000 Prize to Support Nonprofit Initiatives
RESTON, Va., March 18, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Public Interest Registry – the nonprofit operator of the .ngo domain –has announced the launch of its #CashforGood contest, which will recognize the organizations with the most original and compelling profiles on OnGood, an online community that gives non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and nonprofits a way to raise awareness, funds and support for their missions. One grand prize entrant will receive a $10,000 to support their mission, and fifty runner-up prizes will be awarded with a $500 donation to their cause.
"Nonprofit and non-governmental organizations identify with three simple letters: N-G-O," said Dave Stewart, VP Sales and Marketing, Public Interest Registry. "This contest was designed to bring the nonprofit community together around that shared identity – both the online identity of .ngo and the offline identity as members of the sector. Through this contest, we aim to help more NGOs share their unique stories, enhance their visibility and shine light on their contributions to the good in our world."
Authorized representatives of U.S. nonprofits are eligible to participate by registering for a .ngo and .ong domain name bundle and completing the organization's OnGood profile page. Any organization that registers the domain name bundle and completes its profile page between March 15, 2016 and April 22, 2016 will be successfully entered into the contest. Profiles will be judged on messaging, imagery and mission, among other criteria. The winner and runners-up will be notified in early May.
In 2015, after successfully operating as the registry for the .org domain for more than a decade, Public Interest Registry announced the launch of the .ngo and .ong domain name solution. These are validated domain names only available to NGOs and nonprofits, which allow organizations worldwide to establish credibility, enhance visibility, and connect with donors and supporters.
