The grants will be awarded in two categories – neighborhood revitalization and organizational capacity-building – to support a one-time use of funds that meets an immediate need and a longer-term impact. Eligible projects can be stand-alone activities or a discreet part of an ongoing initiative.
"PSEG is committed to improving the quality of life in our cities, as well as supporting the vitality of communities throughout our service area," said Sheila Rostiac, President of the PSEG Foundation.
The grants are open to New Jersey-based housing, community development, or community development support organizations that have been in existence for at least one year, have 501(c)(3) designation and operate in a municipality in PSEG's service territory. The application deadline is October 10, 2012.
The Neighborhood Revitalization Grants will provide up to $15,000 to fund distinct activities that advance a neighborhood revitalization plan. Initiatives that involve partnering with your municipality or key stakeholder organizations are encouraged.
The Organizational Capacity-Building Grants will provide up to $8,000 for projects or activities that will improve the effectiveness of an organization and its impact in the communities it serves.
