NEW YORK, March 29, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) announced the finalists for the communication industry's esteemed Silver Anvil Award, representing the best in strategic and influential public relations programs.
The top campaign in each respective category will win a Silver Anvil, and the finalists in each category will take home an Award of Excellence. Winners will be announced at the PRSA 2017 Silver Anvil Awards Ceremony on June 8, 2017 to be held at the AXA Equitable Center in New York City.
Ketchum ranked highest with 9 finalists followed by Edelman and Padilla with 8, Exponent with 5, LDWWgroup and Carmichael Lynch Relate with 4, Fleishman, Cohn & Wolfe, Burson, Ogilvy and C+C with 3.
A common trend among this year's categories was the scope and expansion of entries that went well beyond traditional media relations. Social media has continued to become an increasingly important element of overall media campaigns. At the core of the campaigns, judges saw more varied, creative avenues used to disseminate stories and messages, with a more concerted effort to evoke emotion, create meaningful behavioral change, underscore relevance and contribute to an outcomes-driven evaluation.
Additionally, members continue to embrace an integrated approach utilizing paid, shared and owned media channels and incorporating more digital assets to ensure a multichannel approach. Nearly all of the entries were more sophisticated in measuring social, but there still appears to be an evolution occurring to gauge measurement beyond social and media impressions.
"The PRSA Silver Anvil acknowledges the contributions of public relations professionals performing at the highest level to create some of the year's most creative and extraordinary communications campaigns," said PRSA 2017 National Chair Jane Dvorak, APR, Fellow PRSA. "These campaigns highlight the successful research and strategic planning necessary to drive measurable business results for their organizations and clients. Silver Anvil Award nominees collectively represent the best and brightest public relations professionals in the industry. These awards showcase the impact these leaders continue to make in today's ever changing business world."
Since its inception in 1944, the annual Silver Anvil Award is the oldest awards competition for excellence in public relations and communication. The iconic Silver Anvil Award symbolizes the breadth of talent among industry practitioners while recognizing outstanding individual professional achievement. Entries are judged on their research, planning, execution and evaluation, while also considering factors such as creativity, ethics and budget.
