PRSA Names Truncale as New Chief Executive Officer
NEW YORK, Oct. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) has named Joseph P. Truncale, Ph.D., CAE, as the new chief executive officer (CEO) of the organization. Truncale joins PRSA after spending 30 years with the National Association for Printing Leadership (NAPL), an organization that he helped guide from traditional printing into the digital age.
In his new position, Truncale will oversee the daily operations of PRSA and will help the organization to seize upon the opportunities created by today's transformative media landscape. The position of CEO was previously held by Bill Murray who resigned following a seven-year tenure.
"Joe is a seasoned leader who brings a wealth of association experience to PRSA. He also brings tremendous perspective to our organization, having firsthand knowledge of what it means to grow an association during a time of evolution within its category," said Joe Cohen, APR, 2014 PRSA Chair. "Joe's understanding of communications and marketing coupled with his shrewd business acumen will be a tremendous asset to PRSA and to our members."
Earlier this year, a search committee was convened to consider candidates for the position. Working in tandem with Korn Ferry, the committee reviewed nearly 200 applicants and conducted multiple rounds of interviews with candidates from a wide variety of backgrounds, and all walks of life, before offering the position to Truncale.
Truncale specializes in strategy, customer analysis and organizational effectiveness. He has developed a number of custom tools used in NAPL's Management Consulting Practice. He is a skilled facilitator and works with entrepreneurial business leaders and their management teams in developing strategic plans with a focus on differentiation and unique organizational ability.
His 30-year career with NAPL began in December 1984 when he was hired to become Director of Member Relations. He subsequently became NAPL Executive Vice President in 1991, and President and Chief Executive Officers in 2002.
Truncale holds an undergraduate degree from Monmouth University, a master's degree from Rutgers University and a Ph.D. in Media, Culture and Communications from New York University.
