PRSA Hosts 10th Biennial State Conference April 22 in Novi
More than 200 public relations professionals to address trends and expand skills
NOVI, Mich., April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) - Detroit Chapter, along with the Central Michigan, West Michigan and White Pine chapters, is hosting the PRSA 2010 Michigan Conference, "PRevolution: Creating Stability in a Shifting Landscape." The April 22 event is bringing hundreds of communicators to the Rock Financial Showplace in Novi, Mich.
Communicators from throughout the region are gaining new skills and valuable insights on this changing industry while networking with more than 200 individuals, from seasoned professionals working to increase their value in their existing position to recent graduates pursuing careers in public relations and unemployed practitioners seeking to maintain their PR expertise.
"The state conference is a full day of valuable programming on topics that range from handling crisis communications, such as the Dominos Pizza YouTube incident, to building brands such as Biggby Coffee, and promoting Michigan to the film industry to implementing and understanding the best digital and social media tools," said PRSA-Detroit Chapter President Rich Donley, APR. "We're topping off those programs with keynotes from a former Detroiter with an incredible career in media, and a trailblazer in social media and marketing."
The day started with a breakfast keynote from Michigan native and Emmy Award-winning broadcaster Ed Gordon, host of the new, nationally syndicated TV show "Our World With Black Enterprise", and a contributing correspondent for the CBS news magazine "60 Minutes". Lunch keynoter Peter Shankman is an entrepreneur, author and speaker best known for creating Help A Reporter Out. HARO is a free, simple, internationally utilized connection between journalists looking for ideas and PR pros with a source to promote.
Local media personality and author Paula Tutman will round out the evening as PRSA's special guest at an afterglow at the Dirty Martini in Novi.
