NEW YORK, Aug. 10, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The PRSA (Public Relations Society of America) Foundation has announced it is offering grants of up to $2,500 each for eight multicultural students to attend the PRSSA (Public Relations Student Society of America) National Conference, Oct. 6-10, 2017, in Boston, Massachusetts.
The grants are available to multicultural students attending HBCU colleges and universities. Application period is August 7 through September 1. Guidelines and application may be accessed at PRSA TRAVEL GRANT.
These newly created grants forward the mission of the PRSA Foundation to encourage and support multicultural students majoring in public relations as well as those in related fields, who plan to pursue careers in public relations.
At the PRSSA National Conference, awardees will have the opportunity to build relationships by attending speaker sessions and networking with peers and professionals. They will receive one-on-one and group mentoring from PRSA professional members. Awardees also will be invited to attend the general sessions at this year's co-located PRSA International Conference where they will hear from such well-known speakers as filmmaker Morgan Spurlock, executive development expert AmyK Hutchens, entrepreneur Bea Arthur and author Jay Baer.
"Networking at the PRSSA and PRSA Conferences lifted my career to new heights as a student leader at Howard University," said PRSA Foundation Program co-Chair Dr. Rochelle L. Ford, who is Chair, Public Relations, at Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Public Communications.
"These grants not only will help the students personally, they will help them develop and strengthen PRSSA Chapters at their colleges or universities. That will have a ripple effect on hundreds of future public relations professionals by introducing them to a national network that can connect them with their peers for their entire careers."
