NEW YORK, Jan. 3, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) announced today that it is making changes to its signature Silver and Bronze Anvil Awards to reflect rapid evolution in the public relations and communications industries. Both Awards programs – named to symbolize the forging of public opinion – will feature new categories, the condensing of subcategories, and more opportunities for public relations and communications practitioners to be recognized for the highest levels of professional performance.
The Silver Anvils – known as the Oscars of the communications industry – celebrate the best strategic and influential public relations programs of the year, providing entrants the chance to demonstrate excellence and get their work in front of top industry professionals. Silver Anvil award-winning campaigns have been featured in textbooks, taught in classrooms and are available on prsa.org to guide and inspire both professionals and students. New categories for 2018 include:
- Outstanding Content Marketing Campaign
- Best Use of Influencer Marketing to Expand Awareness
- Most Effective Corporate Social Responsibility Campaign
- Most Effective Campaign on a Budget ($5,000-$10,000), and Most Effective Campaign on a Shoestring Budget ($5,000 or less)
The Silver Anvil Awards ceremony will also be restructured this year, and held June 7, 2018 at the Edison Ballroom, in the heart of Manhattan's theater district. Award entries for the Silver and Bronze Anvils are now open.
The Bronze Anvil Awards will recognize the increasing influence of Paid, Earned, Social and Owned Media programs across 30 categories. This year there will be eleven new categories, including:
- Most Effective Use of Branded Content
- YouTube Engagement
- Outstanding Digital Publications
- Best Use of Technology
- Most Innovative Customer Service Program
"The Silver and Bronze Anvils are among the most respected and sought-after awards in the communications profession. The new categories reflect the convergence of responsibilities under the communication function as well as constantly advancing technologies and analytics, and will spotlight the excellent work that is being done," said 2018 PRSA National Chair Anthony D'Angelo, APR, Fellow PRSA. "PRSA maintains a rich repository of these public relations campaigns and tactics for professionals and students to study for years to come."
