Provino Technologies Secures Series A Funding to Further Advance Chip Design for AI/ML, Consumer and Automotive Apps
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct. 10, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Provino Technologies, Inc., a semiconductor IP company providing Network on Chip (NoC) solutions for next generation SoCs targeting machine learning/artificial intelligence, consumer and automotive applications, announced today that it has raised $8 million in Series A funding. Dell Technologies Capital led the round with participation from individual industry veterans.
"Provino's technology has a fresh approach to SoC design, addressing the challenging requirements of next generation chip design in the burgeoning artificial intelligence and machine learning markets," said Daniel Docter, Managing Director of Dell Technologies Capital. "We see opportunity in the NoC IP space and our investment will help Provino as they grow in an evolving industry."
iFabric, Provino's interconnect platform solution, innovatively combines concepts such as virtual channels, credit based flow control, and support for DVFS (Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling) to address power efficiency and increasing computational demands of advanced SoCs. It supports the complete chip development flow, including SystemC models, design and debug tools, FPGA prototyping, and physical design closure. iFabric's scalable architecture accelerates development of derivative products, solving customers' time-to-market pressures.
"Provino's offering is well timed to meet the demands of next generation NoCs, by utilizing Virtual Channels and QoS to optimally route larger datasets, prioritize traffic, and manage resources. The company's early market traction with key companies in the automotive, consumer, and machine learning space validates product-fit, positioning the company on a rapid growth path," said Dan Dobberpuhl, Chairman of the Board at Provino Technologies. "This initial round of funding will help accelerate our product roadmap and provide us access to the company-building experience and resources of Dell Technologies Capital."
By designing a NoC architecture that encompasses today's advanced SoC requirements as a starting point, Provino's iFabric platform implements key features such as PCI ordering and safety and security, which are paramount for AR/VR, autonomous driving, and artificial intelligence/machine learning. Therefore, Provino has garnered interest from leading semiconductor and system companies in the valley.
Headquartered in Santa Clara, California, with a second office in Ahmedabad, India, Provino Technologies was co-founded by CEO, Shailendra Desai, together with Dan Dobberpuhl and Amarjit Gill, founders of successful ventures, including, SiByte and PA Semi. The Provino engineering team has broad experience delivering complex SoCs from concept to successful silicon.
