Therap's ONC certified EHR can assist NC Providers achieve HIE compliance according to state regulations
RALEIGH, N.C., Feb. 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Therap Services software for Developmental Disability Providers in North Carolina can be used to meet the new statewide law mandating connection to NC HealthConnex, the state designated HIE.
The North Carolina General Assembly has "established a state-managed Health Information Exchange Authority (NC HIEA) to oversee and administer the NC Health Information Exchange Network, now called NC HealthConnex. The use of this system promotes the access, exchange and analysis of health information."
According to the Health Information Exchange Authority (HIEA), "The new law also requires that as of February 1, 2018, all Medicaid providers must be connected and submitting data to the HIE in order to continue to receive payments for Medicaid services provided."
The Therap system is HIE compliant and is able to successfully connect to health information exchange systems. Currently, Therap is used by North Carolina providers for their daily documentation needs. Therap's developmental disability software includes HL7 compliant Health Information Exchange (HIE) features that allows providers to send health care data, including Admit, Discharge and Transfer information, on Therap to their local exchange. With Therap's HIE features, providers can easily track, access and securely share individual's' vital health information, allowing for enhanced person centred supports.
Therap is also an Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) certified Electronic Health Record that meets the standards for Meaningful Use. Therap adheres to data privacy and protection principles defined by industry-specific methodologies such as HIPAA/HITECH and ONC HIT Certification Program. Therap's comprehensive system includes various modules that allow for secure exchange of healthcare data with external providers via multiple platforms. Therap's Pharmacy interface allows for receiving pharmacy messages from pharmacies directly in HL7 format which then integrate with the Medication History module on Therap. Users have flexibility as to how the information is managed and recorded on the Therap system.
