Pajakowski is being honored in the Excellence in Leadership category. "Jim is tireless, team-oriented and creative, with a leadership mentality and business acumen that makes him a respected leader in our firm," said Protiviti President and CEO Joseph Tarantino. "He has helped guide Protiviti from a determined newcomer in 2002 to a global consultancy that provides expert solutions to companies in more than 20 countries. The entire Protiviti family is extremely proud of Jim and congratulates him for this honor."
Based in Protiviti's Chicago office, Pajakowski manages the delivery of the firm's services in the areas of finance, operations, technology, governance, risk, and internal audit and controls. With his skill set honed over 30 years of experience, Pajakowski's more recent accomplishments include engineering Protiviti's consulting strategy, including its methodology and training program, as well as leading Protiviti's acquisition of two IT consulting companies. Previously, Pajakowski was a partner at Arthur Andersen where he began his career in 1982. Active in the community, Pajakowski is secretary of the Salvation Army's advisory board in Chicago. He is also a member of the Chicago Economics Club.
In the Consulting profile of Pajakowski published in the magazine's May edition, he commented on the biggest factor of his success: "A strong team and focus on developing others and supporting their success." Profiles of the 2013 honorees, including more about Pajakowski's perspective on success and excellence, are available here.
"We were incredibly impressed with the 400 or so nominations we received this year. Each year, the Top 25 nominations get stronger, and this year was no different. In fact, we had a lot more client nominations than we normally do, which is fantastic," says Consulting Editor and Publisher Joe Kornik. "And, the type of client work has shifted. Companies have grown tired of cost-cutting and have transitioned back into growth mode. They are investing again, and are looking to consultants to help them grow their business. That's great news for the profession."
Consulting magazine will celebrate the Top 25 honorees at its annual awards dinner on June 20, 2013, in New York City. Pajakowski joins an elite Protiviti group of past Top 25 Consultant winners recognized by the magazine, including Managing Directors Jim Armetta (2012), Jim DeLoach (2011) and Cory Gunderson (2009).
