MENLO PARK, Calif., June 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Jim DeLoach, a managing director with Protiviti Inc. (www.protiviti.com) a global business consulting and internal audit firm, has been recognized by Consulting magazine as one of the Top 25 Consultants, representing the leadership category. DeLoach was selected from among 400 nominees for the honor, which recognizes those consultants making the greatest impact on clients and within their own firms.

"Jim is incredibly deserving of this recognition," said Joseph Tarantino, Protiviti president and CEO. "He's an energetic, tireless professional who thrives on helping clients succeed. Often described as a 'partner's partner' who gets things done, Jim's leadership has contributed to Protiviti's growth in countless ways."
DeLoach, who has more than 35 years of experience in the field, helps organizations respond to government mandates, shareholder demands, and a changing business environment in a cost-effective and sustainable manner that reduces risk to an acceptable level. He also assists companies with integrating risk management with strategy-setting and performance management with the objective of helping them become early movers in the marketplace. He is a member of Protiviti's Executive Council and is based in the firm's Houston office.
Consulting cited DeLoach's role in launching and growing Protiviti's governance and financial controls practice – largely through a strategic approach to thought leadership – as the primary reason for the recognition. A prolific writer, DeLoach heads the firm's thought leadership strategy and has personally authored more than 180 articles for Protiviti publications since the firm's founding in 2002, including its Flash Reports, The Bulletin, and the Board Perspective: Risk Oversight series. He has also authored two books and published more than 50 external articles in the past 15 years. His book, Enterprise-wide Risk Management: Strategies for linking risk and opportunity, published by Financial Times in June 2000, was the first book written on the subject of enterprise risk management.
DeLoach is presently a member of the COSO Advisory Board for the COSO Internal Control – Integrated Framework Update Project. Additionally, he has served on the COSO Advisory Council, contributing to the development of the Enterprise Risk Management – Integrated Framework, and on the COSO Project on Monitoring. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA).
"Each year, the Top 25 nominations get stronger, and this year we heard from a lot more clients than we normally do, which is fantastic," says Consulting Editor-in-Chief Joe Kornik. "It looks like we're finally turning the corner and companies are tired of trying to cost-cut their way to success. Instead they are investing again, and they are turning to consultants to help them with a variety of business functions across all sectors."
Consulting magazine will honor the Top 25 recipients at a gala awards dinner at the St. Regis Hotel in New York City on June 8. To read more about DeLoach's background and his unique philosophy on what makes thought leadership successful, read the Top 25 Consultants feature on the magazine's web site.
This is not the first time a Protiviti consultant has made the prestigious Top 25 list. In 2009, Managing Director Cory Gunderson was recognized in the Financial Services category.
