ProTek Devices™ Introduces Multiple TVS Arrays with Myriad of Configurations

TEMPE, Ariz., July 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- ProTek Devices™ today introduced multiple transient voltage suppressor (TVS) arrays featuring a myriad of configurations ideal for embedded transient voltage protection in numerous applications such as Ethernet, USB, smartphones, other portable electronics, and more.

The announced parts include the GBLCSCxx and GBLSCxxC™, GBLLC03 and GBLLC03C™, GBLCxxI and GBLCxxCI™ and GBLCxxLC™ that make up families or series of TVS arrays, respectively.  Also made available are the GBLCSC08CLC™ and GBLC03CIHP™ TVS arrays.

A replacement for multilayered varistors (MLV) (0803 and the like), the GBLCSC08CLC is an ultra low capacitance - 0.4pF (typical - junction capacitance) - TVS array. This device is available only in a bidirectional configuration and is rated for 125 watts peak pulse power (8/20 micro second surge waveform). Also a replacement for MLVs (0803 and the like), the GBLCSCxx and GBLCSCxxC series is an ultra low capacitance - 1.5pF (typical) - TVS array. This GBLCSCxx and GBLCSCxxC series is available in unidirectional and bidirectional configurations with standoff voltages of 3, 5 and 8 Volts. The GBLLC03C, which has an ultra low capacitance of 0.4pF (typical), is available in both unidirectional and bidirectional configurations in 3 Volts. The GBLCSC series and GBLLC03C are rated for 200 watts peak pulse power per line (8/20 micro second surge waveform).

A replacement for MLVs (0805 and the like), the GBLCxxI and GBLCxxCI and GBLCxxLC TVS arrays series offer ultra low capacitance of 0.6pF (typical) while the GBLCxxLC offers ultra low capacitance of 0.8pF (typical). These series are available in both unidirectional and bidirectional configurations and are rated at 250 watts for an 8/20 micro second surge waveform. The GBLCxxI and GBLCxxCI and GBLCxxLC series meet IEC 61000-4-2 (ESD) and IEC 61000-4-4 (EFT) requirements and also exceed level 4: handles 10kV contact and 25kV air discharge. Available in multiple voltages ranging from 3V to 24V, they also provide ESD protection of > 25kV. Also a replacement for MLVs (0805 and the like), the GBLC03CIHP is an ultra low capacitance - 0.6pF (typical) - TVS array. This device is available only in a bidirectional configuration and is rated at 500 watts for an 8/20 micro second surge waveform. The GBLC03CIHP is compatible with IEC 61000-4-5 (Surge): 24A, 8/20 micro second surge waveform - Level 2 (Line-Gnd) & Level 3 (Line-Line).

All parts offer a low clamping voltage and are RoHS and REACH compliant. All parts are also compatible with IEC 61000-4-2 (ESD): Air - 15kV, Contact - 8kV and with IEC 61000-4-4 (EFT): 40A - 5/50 nanoseconds.  Every device announced can protect one power or I/O port. At higher operating frequencies or faster edge rates, insertion loss and signal integrity are a major concern and all of these new ProTek Devices TVS arrays resolve this concern.  The GBLCSC08CLC and GBLCSC series are provided with low-leakage current in a miniature SC-79 package. The GBLLC03 and GBLLC03C; GBLCxxI and GBLCxxCI and GBLCxxLC series; and the GBLC03CIHP, are provided with low-leakage current in a miniature SOD-323 package.

ProTek Devices' new TVS arrays are ideal for Ethernet 10/100/1000 Base T. The GBLCSC08CLC, GBLCSC series and GBLLC03 and GBLLC03C are also well suited for applications that include smartphones, portable electronics and USB.

The GBLCxxI and GBLCxxCI and GBLCxxLC series provide protection for applications that include smartphones, handheld - wireless systems and USB interfaces.  And, the GBLC03CIHP is ideal for higher power mobile and wireless handheld systems and USB interfaces.

The GBLCSC08CLC have a price range of $0.30-$0.40 in quantities of 4,000. The GBLCSC series has a price range of $0.25-$0.35 in quantities of 4,000. The GBLLC03C has a price range of $0.25-$0.35 in quantities of 3,000. The GBLCxxI and GBLCxxCI and GBLC03CIHP series have a price range of $0.40-$0.50 in quantities of 3,000.  All parts are now available in mass quantities.
