Orlando-based nonprofit credit counseling organization helps consumers protect personal and sensitive data in recognition of "National Protect Your Identity Week"
ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- InCharge Debt Solutions ("InCharge") will help consumers safely dispose of personal and sensitive data at a fun-filled free event it is calling, "Ready, Set, Shred!" The event will take place on Saturday, October 22, 2011 from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at the headquarters of InCharge, located at 5750 Major Boulevard, Orlando, Florida 32819. There will be activities for the whole family and attendees will have access to free document shredding, electronic device "wiping," as well as guidance from industry experts on how to protect their identities from thieves.

"Identity theft is an ever increasing problem we all face. This event is an opportunity for everyone in our community to safely dispose of, or recycle, items containing personal and sensitive data so the identity thieves can't get them," said Etta Money, InCharge's president. "We'll also have certified credit counselors on hand for attendees that would like a free face-to-face budget and credit counseling session to help assist with any debt problems."
Children attending "Ready, Set, Shred!" will be issued free ID kits while the first 200 adults in attendance will receive free credit report monitoring. InCharge recommends that attendees bring old bills, medical documents, and other personal papers they want to safely shred; cell phones for secure disposal or donation; electronic devices to be wiped clean; and, computers and hard drives for reformatting and data cleaning.
