Protect-A-Bed® and Mattress Direct Honor Veterans with Facebook Promotion
CHICAGO, July 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- As the nation prepares to celebrate its most patriotic holiday of the year, Mattress Direct and Protect-A-Bed are joining forces to support military veterans and their families.
Beginning on June 30th, Protect-A-Bed® and Mattress Direct are encouraging people to "check in" on Mattress Direct's Facebook Page or Protect-A-Bed's Facebook Page and/or upload a photo to either page. For each "check in" or photo upload, Mattress Direct and Protect-A-Bed will donate $10 to Homes for Our Troops, a national non-profit organization dedicated to assisting severely injured Veterans and their immediate families.
From June 30 through July 15, people who visit one of Mattress Direct's 21 locations will be encouraged to "check-in" or upload a photo from a store. "Interestingly, the 4th of July holiday is one of the busiest times of the year to purchase mattresses and sleep accessories," says Lee Burns, President of Mattress Direct. "We thought it would be fun to leverage the already high traffic in our stores, turning it into something that could benefit those who have honorably served our country."
According to Clive Goldin, President of Protect-A-Bed, the promotion is a chance to partner with Mattress Direct for a good cause. "The 4th of July is an opportunity to come together and support veterans who have been severely injured because they dedicated their lives to keeping our country safe," Goldin says. "That feels really good."
Clive encourages people to send messages of support to veterans. "People could send a photo with something like, 'I visited the store today and would like to thank every veteran for his or her service to our country."
Protect-A-Bed and Mattress Direct will keep track of the activity on the pages and are expecting a big outpouring of support for veterans. "We look forward to making the donation to Homes for Our Troops and helping the organization make a difference in the lives of veterans and their families," Burns says.
The donation to Homes for Our Troops will help fund the organization's mission to build specially adapted homes for service members who have been severely injured in combat since September 11, 2001.
"Homes for Our Troops appreciate the fundraising efforts of Protect-A-Bed and Mattress Direct. Because of the support from patriotic companies across the nation, we are able to restore freedom and independence back to our severely injured veterans through the gift of a specially adapted home." SMA (USA, Ret) Ken Preston, President and Director.
