Plaintiffs in the Landmark Marriage Equality Supreme Court Case Bring on MWW's LGBT Practice to Amplify Their Message of Equality and Support New Documentary

Katami and Zarrillo will tap MWW's LGBT practice to support their upcoming documentary launch, speaking engagements and for public relations and media strategy as they continue to be leading voices in the advancement of equality for the LGBT community.

Katami and Zarrillo, widely known for their federal lawsuit against California's Proposition 8, a ballot initiative that banned equal marriage rights in the state, was overturned on June 26, 2013 after a four and a half year struggle. On June 28, 2013, Katami and Zarrillo were officially married by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa at Los Angeles City Hall live on television across the United States.
Throughout the process, Katami and Zarrillo were followed by filmmakers Ben Cotner and Ryan White, who documented their journey. The HBO Documentary Films' project, The Case Against 8, will premiere in theaters in New York and Los Angeles on June 6, 2014 and will expand to select cities June 13, 2014. The film will then debut on HBO on June 23, 2014, in time for the one-year anniversary of the historic Supreme Court decision. As agency of record, MWW will handle Katami and Zarrillo's media relations.
