NEW YORK, Nov. 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Property Group Partners (PGP) today announced the opening of an exhibition of artwork on loan from The William Louis-Dreyfus Foundation Inc. It includes pieces by contemporary artists and is located in the entrance lobby of its newest completed commercial project at 860 Washington Street, New York City. The exhibition is now open to the public.
"The installation of these unique paintings at 860 Washington both honors William Louis-Dreyfus' legacy and furthers the mission of the foundation to make art more accessible to the public," said Jeffrey Sussman, President of Property Group Partners, which co-developed 860 Washington with Romanoff Equities. "This exhibition opens the building's doors to the community and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the rich cultural history of the neighborhood."
The artwork was chosen by Louis-Dreyfus himself to reflect a variety of styles and materials. This initial installation of contemporary paintings and sculptures includes works by John Newman (American b.1952), Graham Nickson (English b.1946), John Moore (American b.1941), Helen Frankenthaler (American 1928-2011), Raymond Mason (English 1922-2010) and Eduard Schteinberg (Russian 1937-2012).
"We are very excited to celebrate this opportunity," said Mary Anne Costello of the foundation. "William Louis-Dreyfus cared deeply about art and giving back to the community. This is a wonderful way to honor him. PGP and Louis-Dreyfus have a long history of placing master works in public places, and this installation continues that tradition."
The building is the largest ground-up commercial building in Manhattan's Meatpacking District. Located at the crossroads of culture and commerce in one of the city's most dynamic neighborhoods. Just steps from the Whitney Museum and surrounded by the headquarters and retail flagships of innovative tech, media, fashion, and lifestyle brands, 860 Washington, it is grounded in the connection between art and business.
As the only first-class office building in the Meatpacking District, 860 Washington offers approximately 114,000 square feet of state-of-the-art commercial office and retail space. The building's impressive tenant roster includes American automotive and energy storage company Tesla Motors, Inc.; wellness real estate and technology firm Delos; and Social Finance, an online financial technology company, known as SoFi.
Designed by the highly acclaimed James Carpenter Design Associates, the 10-story glass structure is one of the most advanced boutique commercial buildings in the Meatpacking District. With an incredible floor-to-ceiling glass curtain wall uninterrupted by perimeter columns, 860 Washington reimagines commercial real estate with a true loft-office feel in a modern style. Boasting the latest in technology, the LEED Silver building features an advanced raised floor that integrates under floor air-conditioning, telecom and building systems for an entirely open work environment.
