At the eighth annual National 4-H Council Legacy Awards, two accomplished 4-H alumni received the Distinguished 4-H Alumni Medallion – actress and producer, Aubrey Plaza, and co-founder of the Molina Foundation, Dr. Faustino Bernadett. During the event, both alumni shared personal reflections on the life-changing impact of 4-H. Plaza and Bernadett join a prestigious group of 4-H Distinguished Alumni Medallion recipients, including such 4-H alumni as Facebook "News Feed" inventor Andrew Bosworth, president and CEO of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Javier Palomarez, songwriter and musician Jennifer Nettles, and professor and best-selling author Temple Grandin, Ph.D.
In addition, Amelia Day, of Fort Valley, Ga., was named the 2017 national Youth in Action winner and will receive a $10,000 scholarship, sponsored by U.S. Cellular. Masters of Ceremonies and 4‑H alumni Anne Burrell - chef, TV personality and Food Network host - and Lazarus Lynch - chef and multimedia personality for the Son of a Southern Chef brand – led the evening telling the story of 4‑H and its impact growing true leaders today.
