"We were honored to host media, celebrities, and influencers who believe in our work and are willing to mobilize their audiences in support of the lifesaving mission of St. Jude," said Richard C. Shadyac Jr., CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising organization of St. Jude. "We are deeply thankful to our guests, their communities and fans for many years of support. The funds raised through Promesa y Esperanza are critical given that families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food—because all a family should worry about is helping their child live."
Since opening in 1962, St. Jude has treated children from all 50 states and freely shares the discoveries it makes to help doctors and scientists at local hospitals, clinics and cancer centers around the world treat childhood cancer. Last year, St. Jude and the World Health Organization announced a collaboration against childhood cancer, with an aim to cure at least 60 percent of children with six of the most common kinds of cancer worldwide by 2030.
