LAS VEGAS, June 26, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- PromaxBDA, the leading global association for marketing, promotion and design professionals in the entertainment industry, today announced the winners for the 2014 PromaxBDALocal and Just Cause Awards. Host of new Warner Bros. daytime talk show "The Real" Loni Love announced the award winners during a luncheon ceremony at the fourth annual PromaxBDA Station Summit in Las Vegas.
With more than 40 awards and 150 nominations, the Local Awards recognize the best in a variety of categories from Art Direction, to Special News Reports, to Live Event Spots. WTNH (New Haven-Hartford) and NBC Artworks were the most-awarded individual American entrants with six wins each.
"Every day, my goal is to strengthen our brand through the creative, inspirational work of our tremendously talented marketing team," said WTNH Director, Marketing & Digital Media Paul Spingola. "For our work to be recognized by our peers with these awards is both affirming and exciting. We are incredibly proud to receive this honor."
Other winners included FOX50/WRAZ-TV (Raleigh-Durham), Tribune Creative West, CBS2/KCAL9 (Los Angeles), WGN-TV (Chicago), and WGRZ (Buffalo). Overall NBCUniversal and its owned station group led the pack this year with twenty total awards. Outside the U.S., Canadian agency Bell Media received twenty-two awards; Groupe TVA, a Canadian Communications Company, secured nine awards.
Winners of the annual Just Cause Awards were announced at the same ceremony, honoring broadcasters' commitment to nonprofit partnerships, social causes, and their local communities. The awards recognize distinguished PSA work in small, medium, and large markets.
KOBI-TV/NBC5 (Medford-Klamath Falls, Ore.) took the small market prize; WATE (Knoxville, Tenn.) won in the medium market category, and KDFW FOX 4/KDFI MY 27 (Dallas-Fort Forth) won the large market awards.
"With budget issues, art, music, and even field trips have been cut from public schools," said Bob Wise, Vice President and General Manager of KOBI-TV. "One day out of the month a business gives a portion of their sales into the "YES" program, and we take those funds to make a big difference for the kids in our community. Our entire station and our partners are honored to be recognized for this work."
This year Station Summit hosted more than 1200 broadcast professionals from fifty states representing all six major networks, including: ABC, CBS, the CW, FOX, NBC and Telemundo.
"Our organization is committed to celebrating the best local work being produced each year," said Stacy La Cotera, Interim Co-General Manager and Vice-President, Global Awards Development, PromaxBDA. "This year's Station Summit has been our biggest yet and our award winners have served as inspiration to everyone here, and everyone in the industry."
