Project VETS Scholarship Program Provides Hope and Opportunities for Wounded Veterans in the Baltimore and Washington DC Metro Region
WASHINGTON and BALTIMORE, Jan. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Project VETS (Veterans Educated in Trading Skills) Scholarship Program plans to award over $3.15 million in scholarships to no fewer than 150 qualified veterans in the Baltimore and Washington DC Metro region to help them discover opportunities to generate income and build wealth in the financial markets in 2011. Project VETS provides scholarships for professional trading and investing education at the Online Trading Academy Baltimore and Online Trading Academy Washington DC Metro.
More than 80,000 Gulf War II era veterans with service connected disabilities are unemployed or out of the labor force. According to November 2010 Bureau of Labor Statistics data, Gulf War II veterans continue to experience a higher unemployment rate (10.0%) than other veterans (7.4-9.4%) as well as that of the general population (9.1%). Unemployment is even higher for Gulf War II veterans with service connected disabilities (11.8%). Project VETS has been designed to establish dignity through self-reliance in the financial markets for disabled veterans returning from Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom - Afghanistan.
Applications for Project VETS Scholarships will be accepted on a rolling basis until November 30, 2011. "We plan to start awarding scholarships in February. We have obtained full funding for 50 scholarships and are looking to raise additional funds to complete the scholarship fund," states Project VETS Program Manager Chris Koomey.
