Project Runway Comes To Life At Madame Tussauds New York
New Experience Takes Visitors Inside the Fashion Design Process and Onto the Catwalk with Heidi Klum
NEW YORK, Sept. 21, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Madame Tussauds New York will ask guests to "Make It Work" teaming-up with Heidi Klum and Project Runway to launch a new interactive fashion design experience in its Times Square attraction. Madame Tussauds News York's Project Runway Experience is a five-part walk-through environment which allows fashionistas to style their own virtual runway looks, become the cover star of Marie Claire magazine and walk the runway with a new wax figure of Heidi Klum.
Supermodel and host of Project Runway, Heidi Klum, said she was excited to see the celebrated TV series come to life as she met her latest wax likeness.
"I love that fans will be able to step-into a dedicated space at Madame Tussauds and feel part of Project Runway" said Heidi Klum, "They can design their own looks, give their most fierce fashion poses on a magazine cover and strut down the catwalk. I can't wait to see the fun photos and designs everyone shares on social media!"
"The Project Runway Experience is all about giving guests a behind-the-seams glimpse into the world of fashion and leaving them feeling inspired all while having unbeatable, interactive fun," said Madame Tussauds New York General Manager Anna Domingo. "There's no better place to celebrate style than the home of Project Runway and one of the fashion capitals of the world, New York City!"
The walk-through experience takes guests from an urban sidewalk to a loft-style design studio, culminating with a Project Runway catwalk. From exploring sketches, fabrics and a Project Runway "Hall of Fame", guests will be transported into the role of a show contestant. Using digital displays, visitors will cast a model avatar, and choose from a variety of outfits, colors, patterns and fabrics to create their own savable and sharable virtual runway looks.
Just as in the show, after creating their designs, guest will come face to face with Heidi Klum. Here, they can practice their runway walk and strike a pose with the iconic supermodel, whose figure looks glamorous in a white mini-dress designed by Barbara Bui and originally worn by Klum on the 2016 season finale of Project Runway.
"Madame Tussauds artists measured me for over two hours taking over 200 measurements and 150 photographs. The result is amazing! I especially love that my figure has such a big smile, I think it captures me so nicely," Heidi Klum said.
Emmy®-nominated series Project Runway has helped launch the careers of popular designers and personalities including Christian Siriano, Michael Costello, Austin Scarlett and more.
Project Runway recently premiered its 16th season on Lifetime, airing Thursdays at 7p.m.
Madame Tussauds New York's Project Runway Experience opens exclusively at on September 21, 2017.
