"Vanessa and Darryl have led efforts to advance Project Rebirth's resilience building among our key communities in their respective organizations. We are very pleased that they have accepted our offer to join the Board as a way to further deepen our relationship with Pace and the 100 Black Men, and to bring their own skills and energy to advancing our mission with other partners."
Brian Rafferty, Board Chairman
Herman brings more than 25 years of experience in government, community, and public relations to the Board. At Pace, Herman leads the Office of Government and Community Relations and serves as the primary liaison for the Campus Community in New York City and Westchester with federal, state and local elected officials, staff, government agencies, key stakeholders and the community at large. Her husband, Mike Donohue, is a Master Sergeant with the New York Army National Guard.
"It is truly an honor to join the Board of Directors at Project Rebirth, to be part of an organization that cares so much for our military, veterans and first responders is something I cherish. I look forward to working with Project Rebirth to help them achieve their mission to build resilience after suffering grief, loss and trauma."
Vanessa J. Herman
Powell serves as the Vice President of Mentoring for the 100 Black Men of Virginia Peninsula. Darryl is a senior Department of the Army Civilian assigned to Fort Eustis, Virginia and a US Army Veteran with service as an Armor Reconnaissance Specialist from 1981 through 2002. Darryl has been instrumental to Project Rebirth's work with the 100 Black Men, helping us to identify how stories from film participant Charles Cook continue to resonate in the African American community and to further develop our programs for youth.
"I am humbled and excited by the opportunity to join the Board of Directors of Project Rebirth and look forward to championing our work with the 100 Black Men of Virginia Peninsula as well as with the other communities Project Rebirth serves."
