Project On Fair Representation Disappointed With Opinion In Evenwel V. Abbott
WASHINGTON, April 4, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Project on Fair Representation, the nonprofit legal foundation that provided counsel to Sue Evenwel and Edward Pfenninger in Evenwel v. Abbott, expressed disappointment that the Supreme Court affirmed the ruling of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in a unanimous ruling.
Edward Blum, president of POFR, said, "We are disappointed that the justices were unwilling to reestablish the original principle of one-person, one vote for the citizens of Texas and elsewhere."
Blum concluded, "The issue of voter equality in the United States is not going to go away. Some Supreme Court cases grow in importance over time and Evenwel v. Abbott may likely be one of those cases."
