The Babcock & Wilcox Company Analyst Notes
On April 14, 2014, The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) announced its plans to restructure its mPower Small Modular Reactor program to focus on technology development. According to the Company, without significant additional investors or customer Engineering, Procurement and Construction contracts to provide the financial support needed to develop and deploy mPower reactors, the current development pace will slow down. In line with this observation, the Company notified the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) on April 9, 2014 of its plans for reduced spending, specifying that it would work with the DOE and other stakeholders to confirm the best way to move forward during the next one to two months. Ametek Inc. Analyst Notes
On April 11, 2014, Ametek Inc. (AMETEK) announced that it has acquired Zygo Corporation through a definitive merger agreement, by which the Company acquires all of Zygo's outstanding shares of common stock at a purchase price of $19.25 per share in cash, representing a premium of 31% to Zygo's closing share price on April 10, 2014. According to the Company, the aggregate enterprise value of the transaction is approximately $280 million, taking into account outstanding equity awards and net cash to be acquired. The transaction, which was unanimously approved by Zygo's Board of Directors, is expected to complete by the end of Q2 2014. Xylem Inc. Analyst Notes
On April 16, 2014, Xylem Inc. (Xylem) announced that it has secured a $1.1 million order for specialized dewatering equipment. The order, according to Xylem, was made after the Company's successful removal of flood water at an oil refinery outside La Plata city in Argentina. Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales (YPF), the facility operator, purchased 15 of Xylem's high-power Godwin dewatering pumps to be used in case of flooding emergencies in the future.
