Productive Douglas County, Illinois, farm to be offered in April auction
CHAMPAIGN, Ill., March 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- A 201-acre farm in Douglas County, Illinois, will be offered at auction Tuesday, April 14, with Murray Wise Associates marketing the property and managing the sale.
"This is A-quality farmland with excellent soils and a productivity index of 137.6, so it will be of interest to farmers and investors alike. Better land like this farm always holds its value best in uncertain markets, and we've seen this in a dramatic way in recent months," said Joe Bubon, executive vice president of the auction company. The tillable land is contained in two tracts of 110 acres and 86 acres, separated by a county road. A third tract, approximately five acres, has an 1,800-square-foot brick ranch home, modern grain storage for 17,000 bushels, and a tool shed.
"Bidders may bid on one of the tracts or any combination of the tracts. As an entirety, these three tracts can make up a complete farming operation, so we could have one buyer or as many as three," said Bubon.
Murray Wise Associates personnel will be available at the property, 2461 County Road 675 North, Newman, from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, March 31, to provide detailed information and accommodate inspections. The auction will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, at the American Legion Hall, 108 East Green Street, Newman.
