Baxter International Inc. Analyst Notes
On June 24, 2014, Baxter International Inc. (Baxter) announced that it is recalling one lot of 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection, USP 1000 mL as particulate matter were found near the administration port. According to Baxter, if infused, the particulate may cause blood vessels blockages, resulting in stroke, heart attack, or damage to other organs such as the kidney or the liver, besides allergic reactions, local irritation and inflammation in tissues and organs. Baxter stated that no adverse events associated with this issue have been reported to date, and that the reason behind the recall has been identified and resolved. The Company advised its customers that the products from the recalled lot # C931923, Product Code 2B1324X, should not be used and should be returned to Baxter for credit by contacting Baxter Healthcare Center for Service at 1-888-229-0001 from Mondays through Fridays, between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. CT. WellPoint Inc Analyst Notes
On June 24, 2014, WellPoint Inc (WellPoint) reported that in observance of the Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month, which is being recognized through the month of June 2014, it has offered tips for people who are taking care of patients with dementia. Aetna Inc Analyst Notes
On June 19, 2014, Aetna Inc (Aetna) announced an agreement with Mercy Health, creating the Company's first commercial accountable care collaboration in the Cincinnati area. According to the Company, the collaboration will introduce Aetna Whole Health, which is a new commercial health care product that provides Aetna members in the new collaboration with highly coordinated care via approximately 350 primary care physicians, 2,400 specialists, as well as 8 hospitals in the Aetna Whole Health - Mercy Health network. Aetna stated that the Aetna Whole Health - Mercy Health plans will give businesses in Butler, Clermont, Hamilton, and Warren Counties better health care options for their employees. In addition, Aetna Whole Health will be available to self-insured businesses starting on July 1, 2014 till September 1, 2014, and to fully-insured businesses starting on August 1, 2014 effective till October 1, 2014.
