DALLAS, Jan. 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Phytel, the leader in automated provider-led population health, has been named the winner of two business process excellence awards in a prestigious international competition hosted by the Process Excellence Network (PEX), a global online community of 92,000 process excellence professionals.
The awards recognized Phytel for its excellence in software development and for its proven ability to use Lean Six Sigma (L6S) to help large physician groups systematically manage their enterprises, pinpoint process improvement opportunities, develop solutions and ensure benefits are realized.
After being a finalist for the PEX Awards for three straight years, Phytel won for "Best Business Process Excellence Improvement Program," as well as for "Best Business Transformation Project." Additionally, Phytel Vice President of Quality Jerry Green was runner up for an individual award recognizing the "Program Director of the Year." Green was named "Community Contributor of the Year" in last year's competition.
Winners were determined by a panel of more than 15 industry leaders and experts in L6S and Business Process Management, and announced on January 20th during PEX Week 2015 in Orlando, FL – the largest L6S conference in the world. Two Phytel customers – Hillcrest Health System and Western Connecticut Health Network – presented case studies at the conference detailing how Phytel leverages L6S strategies to put in place total quality measurement (TQM) initiatives and to systematize care management and population health management initiatives.
"We are thrilled to have won these awards in competition against some of the world's best-run companies," said Richard Hodach, PhD, MPH, MD, chief medical officer of Phytel. "Phytel's win is testimony to the fact that healthcare organizations cannot blindly cut costs to prepare for the arrival of value-based care and new reimbursement programs; they need to improve their business processes and leverage automation to streamline their operations."
Matt Waldron, Phytel senior vice president of corporate development and an L6S "black belt," added, "The awards reflect the significant improvements we have made in customer service and satisfaction, software development, and implementation methodology for our clients. Business process excellence is a standard that we uphold in every aspect of our operations – a commitment that is reflected in our market-leading population health management technology."
Phytel, which offers L6S boot camps in its Dallas offices and onsite for its healthcare clients across the US, competed for the awards against multi-billion-dollar multi-national corporations AES Brazil, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Deutsche Bank, Sing Tel, TELUS, and TIAA-CREF. Phytel was the only healthcare IT company to be named a winner in the competition.
