Through October 11, visitors to Leggett & Platt's The Virgin Mattress YouTube Channel can compete to win a new mattress made with VertiCoil® Edge™ innersprings, valued at approximately $1,300. VertiCoil Edge, the newest technology in innerspring, is part of the VertiCoil family, which enjoyed the most successful product launch in the history of Leggett & Platt's Bedding Group. To enter the contest, visitors must upload a video response to The Virgin Mattress Contest video, sharing why they deserve a new mattress.
The Virgin Mattress Contest is part of a new social media campaign Leggett & Platt designed to connect with consumers. At the conclusion of the contest, the company will launch a series of comedic webisodes that follows a couple in their quest to fight off an arch nemesis and save the family mattress store from financial ruin.
"This is completely new for the bedding industry," said Mark Quinn, Segment Vice President of Marketing for the residential furnishings segment of Leggett & Platt. "We're launching a social campaign that takes a fun look at a couple's efforts to redeem their family mattress business. Humorous customers, sleazy salespeople and crazy bedroom stories make up a tale that will make you think twice about your current mattress."
Contest entries will be judged on creativity and their legitimate need for a new mattress. The winner will be announced on October 13.
"Consumers already know that a good night's sleep can improve their quality of life," said Quinn. "We want them to also understand the role the mattress plays in their sleep, and thus their life. Life happens in the bedroom, and consumers often don't replace their mattress as frequently as they should."
Leggett & Platt will support and promote the contest through YouTube, Facebook, Twitter. A related free iPhone application will be available for download later this year.
